Blue Nectar® Tequila Lands Mexican Packaging Design Award

Southfield, MI (July 17, 2012)— Blue Nectar Spirits Company recently announced its Blue Nectar® Tequila (Blue Nectar) was honored in the Envase y Embalaje Estelar contest at the Mexican Association for Containers and Packaging’s (AMEE) EXPO PACK México 2012. Now in its 27th edition, the contest recognizes creativity and innovation in packaging design and production. Blue Nectar’s sleek bottle design, featuring a classic black and white photograph of a blue agave plant, landed the sprits brand both a trophy and diploma at this year’s convention.

“The strikingly distinctive bottle shape paired with a simple color differentiation to distinguish our varying expressions has been successful in capturing a rustic sophistication that complements the craftsmanship of our tequila; and we’ve heard time and time again that our design really catches the consumer’s eye,” said Nikhil Bahadur, co-founder of Blue Nectar Spirits Company.  “It is a tremendous honor to have been recognized by the AMEE and to have had our product showcased at EXPO PACK México,” he added.

Founded in 1982, the AMEE is a trade organization that represents, supports, promotes and protects the Mexican packaging industry. The association has a membership of almost 80 companies and is recognized by national and international organizations as the professional association responsible for bringing together the most important packaging manufacturers in Mexico. On an annual basis, the AMEE holds a packaging award contest to recognize innovation in packaging and design.

Blue Nectar was honored at the AMEE-sponsored EXPO PACK México 2012 held from June 26-29 at Centro Banamex in Mexico City, Mexico. Known as the most important packaging fair in Latin America, the convention brings together packaging and processing professionals from the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care, graphic arts, medical, chemical and automotive industries. This year’s event was sold out by early June and is cited as the largest show in the history of the expo featuring more than 900 exhibitors from 30 countries and more than 30,000 visitors and buyers.

“Packaging and processing are functions of companies all over the world, and the increasingly global nature of EXPO PACK México reflects that reality,” said Jose Martinez, director, PMMI Latin America office, the trade association that organizes EXPO PACK México. “We want to be sure EXPO PACK México visitors leave with the understanding, knowledge and tools to help their businesses thrive,” Martinez said of the convention.

The Mexican Packaging Association (AMEE) represents the Mexican packaging industry in “an impartial and nonprofit way” in order to support, promote, and protect the industry. Yearly activities include: National Congress, the packaging award contest  known as “Envase Estelar”, Sustainable Package contest, Diploma Course in Packaging, technical seminars, and tradeshows including this year’s ExpoPack Mexico and the forthcoming PackExpo Chicago (October 28-31, 2012.)
