Blue Nectar Tequila Sunrise Slices
It’s not just another tequila sunrise.
Try our mixologist’s tip: For a gradient effect instead of two pronounced layers, only chill the grenadine for 10 minutes before adding the orange layer.
Ingredients:
- 8 oranges
Grenadine Layer:
- ¾ cup grenadine
- ¼ cup water
- 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
Orange Layer:
- 1.5 cups orange juice
- 3 envelopes unflavored gelatin
- 1.5 cups Blue Nectar Silver Tequila
1. Cut oranges in half, juice them, peel out leftover segments – reserve juice
2. Combine water & grenadine in small saucepan, sprinkle 1 envelope gelatin on top, let stand for one minute
3. Turn burner on to medium heat, stir and heat mixture until gelatin is dissolved
4. Once done, remove from heat, pour 1-2 Tbsp into each orange half (keep them steady in a muffin pan) and put in fridge to set up
5. Pour orange juice into saucepan (use fresh juice, adding extra juice if needed as well as some sugar if it isn’t very sweet) and sprinkle three envelopes of gelatin on top, let stand for one to two minutes
6. Turn burner on to medium heat, stir and heat mixture until gelatin is dissolved
7. Remove from heat, add in tequila and fill orange halves
8. Put back in fridge to set
9. Once set, put them gelatin-side down on cutting board and slice into wedges and serve!
Salud!
